Caribbean sailing February 2020
12th February 2020 @ 8:00 am - 23rd February 2020 @ 5:00 pm€2800
The BVI's have become too popular for the 2020 season and the prices have recently increased dramatically They have sadly overtaken our budgets. We are therefore now sailing from Guadeloupe in a group of two yachts.
Basically we were unable to complete our bookings for the BVI sailing when we wanted and before the air fares went up. The budget was fixed at the beginning of September but by the beginning of October air fares went up by 50% - which made it too expensive for several of us.
At the same time we were informed that the European Commission sailing club were sailing out of Guadeloupe on the same dates. We therefore checked flights and charters and were able to find flights at a reasonable 692 euros return direct with Air Belgium and also a Lagoon 380S catamaran at a better price. We have now booked that comfortable catamaran and have 5 in our group with potential space for just one more.
We will sail up to Montserrat and probably also across to lovely Antigua as well as visiting the closer islands of Marie Galante and les Saintes. We will certainly stop at the bay of Deshaies where the TV series of Murder in paradise is recorded. Beaches and ports on the butterfly shaped island are exotic and tropical with lots of character. See photos at end ...
We plan to go out Wednesday 12th February to spent three days in a gite next to the sea to adapt to the local lifestyle before taking out our boat. Return can either be on the Saturday 2 weeks later or the Wednesday following if you want a few more days in paradise
Total budget now comes in at around 2800 all in.

PS We hope to make BVI's in 2021 but we will have to book in August 2020 to get the cheaper air fares for 2021...
